Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company (MSETCL) is propelling Digital India; enabling best-in-class data connectivity for economic growth. Way back in 2012, it entered into a joint venture with Starlit Tech to establish a 3,301 km of reliable Optical Ground Network (OPGW) network. One of its kind, it today is the largest OPGW network in the state with Dark Fibre availability. It has covered 208 cities and towns across 25 districts. A total of 9,427 towers have been put up.

The utility has also implemented Smart Solar 2×50 Net Metering (Hybrid Solar
System) at Chakan. Power consumption is reduced by almost 50%. Environmental carbon saving is 97,000kg/year. Due to solar power installation, the local SCADA reboot problem due to voltage deep/power jerk is resolved.
Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning of Interface Energy Meters along with Automated Meter Reading is another implementation by MSETCL – the first in India to implement SAMAST guidelines, which enabled automated transparent energy meter data collection. It has been rolled out to cover the entire state. The server can integrate 15,000 IEMs. The project covers around 900 substations in the state, which includes 3,000 interface points.
