The number of NH projects awarded increased by 123 per cent in the first quarter of 2020-21. It happened during the tenure of S S Sandhu, the then Chairman, NHAI, now Chief Secretary, Uttarakhand. It was him who implemented 100% FASTAG for digital collection at Toll Plazas across the country, made project management totally digital.

His contribution during the peak of Covid, towards construction of oxygen plants across India will always be remembered. Earlier on, he led the project on Teacher Education Quality Improvement Programme at Ministry of Human Resource Development.
